Culture Competition – from Gail Martinsen, Cultural Director
I am starting a Cultural Competition for our Third District Lodges starting this month. Members earning the most pins for the many different cultural categories will receive a special prize and a plaque at our next convention and the lodge with the most members participating in the competition will receive a plaque. Be sure to notify you lodge’s Cultural Director or President of each pin you earn and they should notify me with the lodge name, member’s name and the pin earned. I will keep a record of each member, lodge and pin they earned. I hope many participate, it will be so rewarding to learn about your heritage, many skills and the wonderful items you can learn to make!! Among the many skills you can work on are: Norwegian Cooking, Norwegian Literature, Rosemaling, Genealogy, Hand-Knitting, Norwegian Language and Culture, Hardanger, Figure Carving, Weaving, Ornamental Woodcarving, Chip Carving and Folk Dancing.
